Air Belgium, the only carrier to operate long-haul flights out of Brussels Charleroi Airport, has announced that it will divide its triangular services to the French Antilles into two separate routes. This comes following successful results after having launched the route (which operates from Brussels to Fort-de-France to Pointe-à-Pitre and back to Brussels) back in early December 2019.
Effective 31 October, 2020, Air Belgium will be separating these two flights, meaning it will have two routes; one from Brussels to Fort-de-France and another from Brussels to Pointe-à-Pitre. Each service will operate twice weekly.
It seems the carrier’s new route has launched successfully. In fact, the airline recently announced that it would be extending its service to operate almost year round, with services continuing up until 5 September, 2020. This is of course, before restarting flights on October 31, 2020 with the new changes.
“In Belgium, the market size for destinations in the Antilles has more than doubled since Air Belgium made the announcement. The launch of these connections from Brussels Charleroi airport enables the Belgian public to discover the French Antilles, which had previously not been served from Belgium and were difficult to access,” the carrier said in its press release.
Finally, the carrier said it will “soon” be announcing a new destination.
