Air Belgium have unveiled a brand new livery on one of its 4 Airbus A340s. The airline, which is set to re-launch its own scheduled flights tomorrow, is celebrating the occasion with a special paint scheme. The scheme promotes the new services to Martinique and Guadeloupe.
The new triangular services will be operated with an Airbus A340-300, flying two times per week from Brussels-Charleroi to Fort-de-France in Martinique and then onto Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe. The A340-300 cabin configuration features 303 seats in a three class layout. Passengers can choose between Economy, Premium Economy and Business Class. Air Belgium operates 4 Airbus A340-300s. The airline announced the new route back in July. Since then, the airline says it has received over 16,000 bookings.
The new livery was announced via the airline's social media platforms. The aircraft has been spotted at Brussels Zaventem International Airport. The aircraft will inaugurate the services to Martinique and Guadeloupe tomorrow.
Air Belgium's new route will mark its return to its own scheduled flights, following the suspension of its Hong Kong services last year. The carrier hoped to relaunch the services this March, however shortly before flights began, it was announced that Air Belgium would suspend the route indefinitely. The airline has, however, said that it does hope to serve China; not in the near future, it seems.
Since then, the airline has been operating flights for other airlines in need of long haul capacity, including British Airways and LOT Polish Airlines.
It's important to note that Air Belgium will operate out of Brussels Charleroi. Significantly further away from Brussels than the well-known Brussels Zaventem Intl. Airport, Brussels Charleroi is much cheaper. However, considering the distance, will Air Belgium's new route be a success? Only time will tell, for this young Belgian airline.
