American Airlines Extends 737 MAX Cancellations Until November

American Airlines has delayed the return of its Boeing 737 MAX services until November 2nd 2019.

This is a result of the two major incidents which saw both a Lion Air and an Ethiopian Airlines flight crash due to a fault in the aircraft’s Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS).

The updated delay is two months later than the US carrier’s previous cancellation period of the plagued aircraft until September 3rd, which was made in June.

The airline said the cancellations for its 737 MAX fleet until November represent approximately 115 flights per day.

“Our reservations and sales teams will continue to work closely with customers who are impacted by these cancellations,” American Airlines says.

The carrier is working with regulatory authorities such as the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Transportation and the National Transportation Safety Board and others to ensure the reliability of the Boeing 737 MAX, in order to provide a safe experience for passengers.
