Azul To Take Delivery Of A321Neo In 2020

Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras S/A, or more commonly referred to as 'Azul', is now set to take delivery of its first Airbus A321Neo in 2020, according to a report by CH-Aviation.

Originally, Azul was expected to take delivery of its first Airbus A321Neo during the fourth quarter of 2019 and the start of 2020. The aircraft are to operate on high-demand domestic routes and international rotations.

The order, which does not include the Airbus A321Neo LR (long range), is for the ACF configuration which increases the aircraft's capacity by 20 seats.

Azul is expected to have somewhere between 226 and 232 seats on board its Airbus A321Neos.

The order is part of Azul's fleet replacement and expansion plan which includes orders for the Airbus A320Neo, A330Neo and Embraer E2 jets. The carrier is also looking at purchasing the Boeing 737-400F, according to a report by Airway.

The Airbus A321Neo order is said to be part of the carrier's agreement for up to 35 Airbus A320Neo family jets signed back in December of 2014, although this is unconfirmed.

In other news, Azul recently announced its second quarter results in which operating revenues totaled USD667.7 million and passenger revenue increasing by 30.5%. Read more here.

Its fair to say, that Azul is performing very well. With the recent bankruptcy of Avianca Brasil and its consistent growth strategy, things are looking very good for the Brazilian carrier.
