As of 8 June 2019, Cyprus Airways (CY) operates two weekly flights between Larnaca (LCA) and Bratislava (BTS). Cyprus is one of the most important touristic destinations for Slovak citizens.
CY brings additional capacity on the route, operating against European carrier, Smartwings. Combined, both airlines serve Larnaca seven times a week from Bratislava.
Cyprus Airways operates the A319, with 144 seats, on the route. Flights leave LCA in the early morning and arrive in Slovakia at 8 a.m. The return flight leaves BTS at 9 a.m. and arrives in Cyprus at 11 a.m.
“This new route provides further growth impetus for travelling to Cyprus, where we registered a 45% increase in passenger volume last year. The island is not only an important growth market for Bratislava Airport but also for the entire Slovak business and tourism location. For this reason, the launch of flight service on the new route to Larnaca is a valuable addition to the existing offering of destinations and an important step towards strengthening tourist and economic ties between Slovakia and Cyprus”, said Bratislava Airport media spokesperson Veronika Ševčíková.
Cyprus Airways is a Cypriot airline which started operations in 2017. Since last year, the airline is a subsidiary of S7 Airlines. They are based at Larnaca International Airport and they operate flights to 14 destinations in Europe. As of June 2019, the Cyprus Airlines fleet consists of three Airbus A319 aircraft.
The inaugural flight was operated by 5B-DCX, which arrived in Bratislava on time and was welcomed by many journalists on the apron. We would like to thank Bratislava Airport and Cyprus Airways for inviting AeroNewsX to an amazing inaugural flight event!
