Tragedy has struck in Karachi, Pakistan today as a Pakistan International Airlines A320 has crashed just short of the runway at Jinnah International Airport. This information was confirmed by the airline's spokesperson earlier today.

The Airbus A320-200 of Pakistani national carrier, registration AP-BLD operating Pakistan International Airlines Flight 8303, was flying between Lahore and Karachi today when the pilot allegedly reported technical problems relating to the landing gear before the crash, according to the Pakistan CAA. Pakistan International Airlines spokespeople confirmed that 99 people were on board at the time, consisting of 91 passengers and 8 crew members.
It is unclear whether there were any casualties at this time, however video footage taken by residents near the A320s crash site appears to show that the plane went down in a built-up area, with large plumes of black smoke and fireballs shown rising from behind residential buildings.
The almost 16 year old aircraft performed a go around at 9:34am while at 275 feet. The aircraft then ascended to 3175 feet. According to FlightRadar24 data, signal was lost at 525 feet at 9:40am
Pakistani media has reported that the nation's Army Quick Reaction Force and Pakistan Raiders have been deployed to the area to assist with the clean-up and rescue of survivors. More information to come as updates are released from Pakistan.
