A British Airways Airbus A350-1000 was involved in an incident at Dubai International Airport when its horizontal stabilizer hit an Emirates 777-300ER. The incident, which has been confirmed by British Airways, occurred last night.
As demand for passenger air travel continues to reduce, airlines have turned to cargo operations to maintain at least a certain amount of profit. This includes British Airways, who this morning were scheduled to fly between Dubai and London.
The aircraft, which has been grounded following the incident for damage assessment, was registered G-XWBA and was due to operate BA flight 106. The aircraft had arrived in Dubai on 13 April at 06:27.
In a statement to AeroNewsX, a British Airways spokesperson confirmed: "Safety is always our highest priority. The aircraft will be fully assessed before it is cleared to fly."
The British Airways aircraft came in contact with an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER registered A6-EBR. The plane was not scheduled to operate any services, according to FlightRadar24 data. A6-EBR is a 13 year old airframe.
