Corsair begins fleet renewal with A330-300 delivery

French carrier Corsair has taken delivery of an Airbus A330-300 registered F-HJAZ, marking the start of its gradual fleet renewal. This will see the carrier eventually retiring it’s Boeing 747 and A330-200 fleet, the latter of which has already begun.

F-HJAZ is a used Airbus A330-300 and is 10 years old. The aircraft was delivered on 14 February, before commencing service with the carrier on 16 February to Abidjan. The aircraft is part of Corsair’s fleet renewal and replaced an A330-200 registered F-HBIL which was ferried to Tarbes, France, for storage on 6 February. While the A330-300 is not brand new, it’s significantly younger than the 19-year old A330-200.

Corsair has one more A330-200 in service, registered F-HCAT which is 20 years of age. The aircraft will have to wait another two years before following the footsteps of its sister, as Corsair has scheduled it’s retirement for June 2022.

In the meantime, the carrier will focus on the retirement of its three Boeing 747-400s. The jumbo jet is being retired by airlines across the globe, with Qantas having retired yet another one of its examples just last week (VH-OEF).

April will see the incorporation of another Airbus A330-300, paving the way for the first 747-400 retirement at Corsair. The remaining two aircraft will continue to serve the carrier for a while to come as it continues its expansion plans.

Corsair is anticipating the delivery of it’s Airbus A330-900neos which it already has on order. The carrier is expected to take the first of five in August 2020 followed by one in December and one in January next year. The final two will arrive in April and May of 2021.

By Summer 2023, Corsair will have a fleet of 13 aircraft consisting solely of Airbus A330s.
