As previously reported, the national carrier of the Republic of Croatia, Croatia Airlines, received a 250 million HRK (approximately 33 million EUR) loan from the country’s government. The company recently announced they would be leasing two planes, a Bombardier Q400 Dash 8 previously utilized by Austrian Airlines, and an Airbus A319 previously operated by low-cost giant EasyJet.
Croatia Airlines also announced they would be launching two new routes in South Eastern Europe, to the capitals of Montenegro and Bulgaria.
Podgorica (TGD) will receive three weekly flights from Zagreb (ZAG) Croatia’s capital and largest city, flown on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, while Sofia (SOF) will also receive three rotations a week, but on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Both routes will start in May. Croatia Airlines had previously operated flights to the Montenegrin city, but ceased operations. The airline will also provide transfer options to the Dalmatian coast and European cities through its extensive Star Alliance network, which operates from its hub at Franjo Tudjman International Airport in Zagreb.
