Egyptair has placed an order for a further two Boeing 787-9 dreamliners at the Dubai Airshow.
The first aircraft is set to arrive in 2021, while the second will be delivered in 2022.
Signed as a lease agreement with AerCap, the new order will complement the airline’s existing fleet of 6 Boeing 787-9 dreamliners. Worth noting is that the airline’s current fleet of 6 dreamliners are leased from AerCap as well.
The new order is a testament to the quality of the Boeing 787-9, with Egyptair Group’s Chief Executive, Ahmed Adel, saying that the aircraft “has outperformed our expectations”.
Adel continued: "We look forward to growing our network with additional 787-9 airplanes and flying more passengers to their destinations at an affordable cost."
Egyptair is growing fast. The airline recently took delivery of its first Airbus A220, with 6 having been now delivered. The North African airline has also got an extensive fleet of Boeing 737-800s and Airbus A330s, making it very diverse in terms of its fleet. Nevertheless, this is exciting news; the new Boeing 787-9s will allow for further growth, and it will be interesting to see where Egyptair goes from here.
