Eurowings to add flights between Serbia and Kosovo

Following a bloody war at the end of the 20th century and a declaration of independence twelve years ago, there are talks of possible passengers flights between the two capital cities of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Kosovo, Belgrade, and Pristina.

According to exyuaviation.com, The Civil Aviation Authority of Kosovo confirmed that passengers will use their National Identity Cards to travel, instead of their passports. Nonetheless, Kosovo citizens will be able to transfer through Belgrade Nikola Tesla airport on other flights using their passports. Pre-1999 flightpaths will be used, meaning that Eurowings planes will not need to pass through North Macedonian airspace to reach Serbian airspace. Eurowings will fix fares and possible codeshare agreements on the route, which will most likely be with other members of the Lufthansa group.

However, Eurowings has also been cutting many routes in the region, axing nine services from Germany to the Balkan region, including Berlin (DE) to Zagreb (HR) and Pula (HR), Stuttgart (DE) to Ohrid (MK) and Tivat (ME), from Cologne (DE) to Osijek (HR), from Hanover (DE) to Rijeka (HR) and from Salzburg (AT) to Split (HR).
