FlyArystan Completes First Day Of Operations

Air Astana’s newly created low cost subsidiary, FlyArystan, launched its first ever domestic connection on May 1, in a move which will, hopefully, mark the start of a prosperous future for the airline.

Departing Almaty for Nur-Sultan, the Airbus A320 then returned back to Almaty before flying to Taraz, the second commercial flight for FlyArystan.

“FlyArystan, which follows the classic model of budget airlines appears right on time. We expect a significant increase in passenger traffic on both domestic and international routes of Kazakhstan as we plan to be based in other countries as well. In the meantime, we are ready to provide affordable flights throughout Kazakhstan and we hope that FlyArystan will make a significant contribution to the development of the regional economy,” said President and Chief Executive Officer at Air Astana Peter Foster.

FlyArystan's route network

In its first day of operations, FlyArystan has been able to carry a total of 720 passengers.

Its initial network sees domestic connections from Almaty International airport. Effective 1 May, the carrier launched daily flights to Karaganda, Taraz and Uralsk and twice daily operations on the Almaty to the capital, Nursultan Airport in Kazakhstan.

Earlier this year, Foster explained the reason for the new budget airline: “FlyArystan gives us the opportunity to grow the overall market by taking customers from other forms of travel and we are proud to be playing an important social and economic development role in Kazakhstan by creating this exciting new airline.”

Kazakhstan’s aviation industry has grown rapidly over the past few years, and Air Astana continues to play a part in it. With the brand new low cost subsidiary, Air Astana will be able to capture a larger amount of the market share. This is important for Air Astana to remain a key player within the industry and will allow the carrier to grow its name.
