Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation has yet again broken another world record with one of their G550 business jet after it set a new speed mark on a recent trip between Shanghai, China and Seattle, US. In a statement released on May 14th (US time) Gulfstream said that the G550 completed the 5,123nm trip in 10 hours and 29 minutes, flying at an average speed of Mach 0.85.

According to the company, this was the 55th record set by the G550 and, following approval from the United States National Aeronautic Association, the flight details will be sent to Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Switzerland for acceptance as a world record.

“The G550 never fails to impress as it continues to break records and uphold its lasting reputation, demonstrating why the G550 is a consistent choice for business aviation and special missions operations,” Gulfstream president Mark Burns said in a statement.

Powered by two Rolls-Royce BR710 engines, the Gulfstream G550 has a maximum range of 6,750nm at its long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.80, and seats up to 19 passengers in a normal configuration.
