That said, the aircraft are due to be delivered by the end of 2021, with the “majority” arriving during the first half of next year.
The latest announcement includes a conversion for 4 Embraer E190-E2s to the larger Embraer E195-E2. Signed in September 2018, the original order includes agreements for 12 aircraft with purchase rights for a further 12 and conversion rights to the larger variant.
By exercising the conversion rights, Helvetic Airways now expects to take delivery of 3 Embraer E190-E2s as well as 4 Embraer E195-E2s, since 5 of the smaller variant have already been delivered.
“The Embraer E195-E2 strikes a good balance between seating capacity, range, fuel consumption and environmentally friendly operation. With between 120 and 150 seats, it has virtually no competition in the regional aircraft segment. Operating a single fleet – in terms of cockpit – with varying seating capacities will enable us to expand our organisation’s operational flexibility and autonomy,” explained Helvetic Airways CEO, Tobias Pogorevc.
The 7 aircraft that have yet to be delivered are worth $480 million at list prices, the manufacturer says.
The E195-E2 offers an 18% increase in capacity in comparison to Helvetic’s current E2 fleet. The E195-E2 will offer 134 seats in a single-class layout, while the smaller variant offers 110 seats in the airline’s configuration.
The new generation aircraft will allow Helvetic Airways to replace its current Embraer E190 fleet. Embraer estimates that the E2s are 48% quieter than the aforementioned aircraft type.
