Iberia has just announced direct flights between Madrid and Washington DC as part of its 2020 Summer flight program. The new service is part of Iberia’s wider plan to improve connectivity from its Madrid hub.
With the attempt to transport 68,000 passengers during next year’s summer season alone, Iberia will fly to Washington DC with its Airbus A330-300 five times a week.
The Airbus A330-300 can seat 292 people, including 29 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 242 in Economy Class.
In other news related to Iberia's Summer 2020 program, the carrier will increase frequencies to daily on both its flights to San Juan and Tokyo. This represents a 55% and 70% increase in capacity respectively.
The Tokyo announcement comes in time for the Summer 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games which are being held in the Japanese capital.
The new service upgrades come at a time of growth for Iberia, with the introduction of further Airbus aircraft, including the Airbus A350-900 and Airbus A320Neo. Things are currently looking good for Iberia and it will be exciting to see what’s next for the carrier, as its owner, the IAG Group, announced the acquisition of a Spanish competitor – Air Europa.
