After close to three months of a nationwide lockdown brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent easing of movement controls, families in Malaysia can reunite as Malaysia Airlines, Malaysia's national carrier has announced the resumption of some domestic and international flights.

Malaysia Airlines will in June resume domestic flights from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar, Johor Bahru, Kota Bahru, Langkawi, Terengganu, Labuan, Miri, Sandakan, Tawau, Kuantan, Bintulu, Sibu, Penang and Kuching.
The carrier will also resume international flights from Kuala Lumpur to Dhaka, Kathmandu, London, Osaka, Tokyo NRT, Seoul ICN, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Bali, Phuket, Cambodia, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kochi, Sri Lanka, Taipei, Guangzhou, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Surabaya, Manila, Jakarta, Bangkok, and Singapore. More international flights will resume in July.
CEO of Malaysia Airlines Group Captain Izham Ismail said in a statement: "We are pleased to announce the resumption of our services by increasing capacity to domestic and international routes and we look forward to welcoming our passengers back on board."
As the carrier prepares to resume several flights, Malaysia Airlines has implemented enhanced safety measures to offer passengers peace of mind when traveling. These measures include temperature checks before and after any flights, sanitization, and disinfection of all aircraft and facilities, enforced social distancing, mandatory usage of face masks, and installation of protective barriers at check-in counters and transfer desks at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
These measures will also be implemented at Malaysia Airlines' lounges, which will only resume operations on 1 July 2020. Passengers will get to enjoy inflight entertainment systems, Wi-Fi connection, and amenities provided such as pillows and blankets, but inflight magazines and duty-free will not be available. Malaysia Airlines is also trying to limit contact between staff and passengers by encouraging passengers to perform online check-ins to reduce contact and minimizing cues at airports.
