easyJet pilots have voted overwhelmingly against the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Peter Below. The vote, which saw 99.9% of BALPA pilots jointly express a lack of confidence in the COO’s management. Worth noting is that BALPA represents approximately 90% of easyJet’s pilots.
In particular, the pilots noted the airline’s “poor handling” of the coronavirus crisis and added that the COO wasn’t able to correctly manage the “collapse in pilot morale” as a result of his actions and appointment.
The employees mentioned that restoring relations between the company’s senior management and pilots is crucial, noting that trust has “completely broken down” between the two parties.
BALPA reiterated its concerns towards easyJet’s proposed job losses which includes the removal of 727 UK pilots, a “completely unrealistic figure,” it says.
