Policeman shoots Air France A330 at Pointe Noire, no injuries

A policeman at Congo’s Agostinho-Neto International Airport at Pointe Noire shot an Air France Airbus A330-200 while it was on its way to the gate. Two gunshots were heard, puncturing the fuselage. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries and the policeman has been arrested.

The Airbus A330-200, registered F-GZCK was on 11 April operating a ferry flight to Pointe Noire to pick up stranded French citizens and bring them back to Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport. The aircraft has been grounded. F-GZCK is a 17 year old Airbus A330-203 registered in France.

Air France has sent a replacement aircraft, which is currently en route to Congo. The Boeing 777-200ER is registered F-GSPG and departed Paris Charles de Gaulle at 11:45 local time today. Its expected arrival time is 18:18 local.

Air France has been operating a number of repatriation services, having flown French citizens back to France from Brazzaville, Cotonou, Lima and New York yesterday. Earlier today, the carrier’s cargo division operated a service from Shanghai with 16 million masks onboard.
