Qatar Airways to introduce “mini Q-Suites” on new A321neos

Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways’ CEO has revealed a few details, in an interview with Executive Traveller, on how the business class on its new A321neos and A321neo LRs will look like. Despite the deferral of the deliveries of the new narrow-body jets to 2022 because of the coronavirus pandemic, the airline’s Chief Executive has already revealed a few of the characteristics of the new business class seat.

According to Al Baker, the new seat will be very similar to the existing Q-Suites on the airline's wide-body fleet without the doors, which provided an advanced level of privacy to the passengers on board. However, the airline’s CEO has stressed that there will be something similar to ensure some level of privacy.

The new seats will also be a significant improvement compared to the ones in the airline’s older narrow-body jets. They will all have aisle access, which implies that the old 2-2 configuration will no longer exist. Instead, the configuration will likely be 1-1.

The airline will be introducing these seats in the 40 A321neos, which it has in order as well as the 10 A321neo LRs, which it ordered last year. However, as previously mentioned, the introduction of these seats into service is going to have to wait at least two more years as the airline has pushed back all of its deliveries to a later date.

In other news, Qatar Airways announced last week that they had resumed flights to an additional five destinations, bringing the total of cities served by the airline to 45, with an impressive 270 weekly flights from its hub in Doha.
