Qatar Airways, a Skytrax 5-star airline, continues to grow at Prague Airport. It was announced that they will start operating their morning rotation to the Czech capital (QR289/290) with an Airbus A330-200 with a capacity of 260 or 272 seats. The first flight of this type is planned to be on March 29.
Currently, an Airbus A320, offering 132 or 144 seats per flight, is operating the rotation. This replacement will allow Qatar Airways to offer 512 – 524 seats daily combined with the afternoon rotation (QR291/292), on which the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, having a capacity of 254 seats, continues to operate.
Additionally, it is expected that Qatar Airways will soon surpass Emirates in terms of transported passengers to/from Prague, offering slightly more daily seats. Emirates, operating flights to their hub in Dubai, fly an Airbus A380 on a daily basis. Recently, they announced the termination of their evening Boeing 777 rotation, which was launched just last year in July.
Moreover, just 2 days after this news was announced, it was reported that fpr the whole month of February, Qatar Airways will be operating their afternoon rotation with the modern Airbus A350-900 aircraft instead of the Boeing 787-8.
“The airline informed us about the fact that during February they will operate their afternoon flights between Prague and Doha with the modern Airbus A350,” said Kateřina Pavlíková, a spokeswoman for Prague Airport.
The airline will send their A350-900’s with a capacity of 247 seats in economy and 36 seats in business class, totalling 283 seats.
Qatar Airways will be the second airline to ever operate an Airbus A350 to Prague. The first airline to achieve that was Ethiopian Airways, which wet-leased their aircraft to Smartwings during the summer.
