Royal Brunei Airlines has delayed its return to Brisbane, Australia until July, a month after the planned date, June 11th. The inaugural Bandar Seri Begawan-Brisbane service is now scheduled to take off on July 10th.
“Due to operational reasons, Royal Brunei Airlines will defer the commencement of our scheduled flights between Brunei and Brisbane,” the carrier said in a statement on its website.
The airline announced its return to Brisbane, for the first time since 2011, in January, with four flights a week operated by the Airbus A320neo narrowbodies. The overnight flight from Brunei to Brisbane and the evening return trip, will support Royal Brunei’s flights to London, as part of the Kangaroo Route. When the service finally begins, Brisbane will be the carrier’s second Australian destination, alongside Melbourne.
The airline currently has seven A320neos in its fleet, powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines. The aircraft are configured with 12 business class seats and 138 economy class seats with a total of 150 seats and are part of Royal Brunei’s growth and A320ceo replacement schemes.
