The Skytrax awards 2019 announcement is due at the Paris Air Show. The most important and popular award among them is the world's best airline award, and many airlines work hard all year to attain this award. It is nothing less than a crown for airlines to show off while their aircraft soar proudly through the clouds.
Prior to the announcement of the winners, here are some airlines which are one step closer to winning the award this year.
1) Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines is last year's winner with an impressive Skytrax rating of 10/10.
Likewise the airline also won the award in the year 2007 and 2008 thus giving the airline a high chance of winning it for the second year in a row.
In the year 2018, Singapore Airlines succeeded in launching their longest flight from Singapore Changi Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport operated by an Airbus A350-900ULRXWB.
This accomplishment helped it in reserving a good position in attaining the award.
Singapore Airlines have also introduced their new luxury first class suits on their new Airbus A380's making it the best first class airline of 2018. The new suites come with a personal wardrobe, a mirror and are spacious enough for small bags and to even hang a jacket. There are also three storage cabinets along the windows. If that isn't luxurious enough, the airline also introduced LALIQUE amenity kits. Additionally, the seats can be lowered between two suites to convert it to one big bed. The chair is fully adjustable and can move from 135 to 270 degrees.
2) Qatar Airways
Qatar Airways was the runner up for the best Airline of 2018 and the first place winner of the best airline of 2017. Qatar Airways is one of the youngest airlines in the aviation industry and operates a fleet of 225 aircraft with an average age of 9 years old. The airline has won the Skytrax award for best airline in 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017 with a current Skytrax rating of 7/10 and could be on its way to get their fifth award this year.
Qatar Airways has introduced new business class cabins called Qsuites and was awarded the best business class airline in 2018. The Qsuites are on their Airbus A350-1000 and on their new Boeing 777-300ER's and are soon going to make it on their Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
3) Emirates
Emirates was the first airline to win the skytrax award for Best Airline back in 2001 and since then has had the opportunity to have won the same award in the years 2002, 2013 and 2016.
However last year Emirates was not lucky enough to make it to the top three and hence now stands as the fourth best airline by Skytrax rating.
Like every other airline, this year Emirates has also worked day and night in order to live up to its well earned reputation and mark its territory in the top three positions for the best airline.
Currently Emirates has a Skytrax rating of 6/10 and has announced many network additions for 2019, hoping for a better rating this year. The routes include the establishment of additional routes to Africa and peak season Airbus A380 flights to Europe. The carrier has also suspended flights to Santiago via Sao Paulo and from Bangkok to Sydney. The airline is already a four star airline with the world's best in-flight entertainment since 2013 and it's First class and Business class suites could also contribute in getting it a higher rating.
4) All Nippon Airways
Although there are no high expectations from All Nippon Airways, the airline's new Airbus A380's became a great success. The airline operates their Airbus A380's from Tokyo NRT to Honolulu, which is currently in high demand. The airline's CEO and president revealed that the Airbus A380 operations from Tokyo to Honolulu are performing well and the bookings are off to a strong start. The airline is also a five star airline since 2013 and the third best airline in the world in terms of its First Class product. The airline is the best airport service airline since 2013. The airline also won the best aircraft cabin cleanliness airline of 2018.
In conclusion, it will be exciting to see which airlines will fly up to the top spots later this month when the Skytrax airline awards are revealed. Stay tuned to our Instagram page (@aeronewsx) for daily news updates regarding the Paris Air Show, 2019.
