SIA Group resumes more routes

From 22 June 2020, passengers traveling on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir flights will be allowed to transit through Singapore Changi Airport from China, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea. However, travelers are not allowed to transfer with other airlines but only between Singapore Airlines and SIA Group subsidiaries SilkAir and Scoot.

Customers are not allowed to book return trips unless both the departure location and final destinations are in the list of cities approved for transit through Singapore. Below is the list of cities approved for transit through Singapore Changi Airport.

For instance, customers can book return tickets from Tokyo - Singapore - Sydney as both Tokyo and Sydney are in the list of cities where transit flights are permitted. However, customers can only book a one-way ticket from Brisbane - Singapore - Copenhagen as Copenhagen is not in the list of cities where transit flights are permitted.

To ensure passenger comfort and safety while traveling, Singapore Airlines and Changi Airport have implemented measures to minimize the risk of the spread of COVID-19. Check-in counter staff at Changi Airport will have masks and face shields to follow safety standards issued by local authorities, and passengers are required to maintain safe distancing from each other.

Before the flight, passengers must submit a health declaration, check-in online to minimize contact, and reduce time spent checking into the airport and go through mandatory temperature screening before immigration. Singapore Airlines will issue each passenger with a care kit, consisting of a face mask, hand sanitizer, and anti-bacterial wipes.

Onboard the aircraft, cabin crew will wear a mask throughout the flight, and goggles or eye visors will be worn when interacting with passengers. Meal services have been suspended for all flights within Southeast Asia and China, but a snack bag will be provided. In-flight magazines and duty-free will not be available on SIA Group flights, but passengers can opt to shop for duty-free via the group's mobile application.

"To comply with regulatory requirements to separate transit and non-transit passengers, seat selection may be limited or unavailable for your flight. You may be reassigned to a different seat closer to your departure date."

In compliance with new regulations, Changi Airport will be separating transit and non-transit passengers. Transit passengers will be welcomed by ushers and be escorted directly to the transit lounge without any stops. If the layover time is more than 75 minutes, passengers will be escorted to the new transit lounge, otherwise, travelers will be escorted directly to the boarding gate. Although transit passengers are not able to visit airport shops and amenities along the way, facilities will be provided in the transit lounge. Travelers in the transit lounge can purchase light snacks and beverages while there. Facilities in the transit lounge include food kiosks, vending machines, lavatories, a smoking room, a snoozing corner, and free WiFi will be available.
