Germany-based TUI fly Deutschland is currently evaluating potential bases for its upcoming Boeing 787 fleet. This includes Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich, according to a report by EXPRESS.de.
TUI fly currently operates a hub at all three airports and is expected to continue its growth. Next year, TUI fly will be launching services with two new Boeing 787s, following the footsteps of its sister airlines in the UK among others.
The airline is not only in talks with Düsseldorf Airport however. TUI fly is also negotiating with Frankfurt and Munich.
The launch of 787 operations comes after quite a successful year for the tour operator. The bankruptcy of UK-based rival Thomas Cook has freed up a lot of space at airports around Europe and there is now also a gap in the market.
While the carrier has not revealed which airport out of the three will be the new 787’s home, it has confirmed that it plans to make a decision at the start of next year.
Meanwhile, TUI fly is continuing its expansion in Düsseldorf with plans to base an eighth aircraft dependant on demand and takeoff-landing slot awards.
