Vistara To Launch First International Service In August

Indian full service carrier, Vistara, has said on Thursday that it would launch its first International flights in August. Vistara has chosen Singapore as their first international destination.

Vistara is an Indian carrier owned by Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines. The airline first commenced operations in January 2015 and last year, met the corresponding requirements to launch international flights. Vistara has a fleet of 28 aircraft only serving Indian Domestic destinations as of July 2019. Vistara currently operates the Airbus A320, Airbus A320neo and the Boeing 737-800. Vistara has placed an order for 6 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and 6 Airbus A321Neos, the latter of which are expected for delivery in 2020.

The new international flights launched by Vistara can help to ease the pressure on international airfares from India. Airfare prices in India rose by as much as 32% after Jet Airways ceased operations a few months ago.

Vistara CEO Leslie Thng said "We're excited to start with Singapore as our first international destination, which we see as a very important market given opportunities it presents for corporate, business as well as leisure travel."

Vistara will launch 2 international flights from India to Singapore: The first flight will be from Delhi to Singapore on the 6 August 2019 and the second flight from Mumbai to Singapore on the 7 August 2019.

Besides Vistara, AirAsia India, a joint venture between Tata Sons and the AirAsia Group is also seeking approval to launch international flights.
