As of 29 April 2019, Austrian Airlines operates flights between Vienna and Montreal Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport. Canada is an important growth market for Vienna and the entire economic and tourism industries of Austria.
Flight OS73/74 will be operated daily during the summer timetable, while the route will be served five times per week during the winter. The route to Montreal will be operated by Austrian’s Boeing 767-300ER fleet. Flights leave Vienna at 10:30 a.m. and arrive in Montreal at 01:35 p.m. The return flight from Montreal leaves at 6:45 p.m. and lands in Vienna at 8:45 a.m. (+1 day).
With the launch of Austrian Airlines' flight service to Montreal, Star Alliance partner Air Canada (AC) will assume responsibility for operating flights on the Toronto-Vienna route. Air Canada will operate this daily route with a Boeing 787 aircraft. After a nine year hiatus, AC is the first North American airline to serve Vienna again. As Austrian Airlines and Air Canada are code-share partners, they offer connections at both VIE (Vienna) and YUL (Montreal).
“We are pleased to double the flight offering from Austria to Canada in cooperation with Air Canada. In the future, our customers will be able to explore the metropolis of Montreal and continue to make use of the usual offering to Toronto”, states Wolfgang Jani, CFO of Austrian Airlines.
OS and AC hope to appeal to both leisure and business travelers. They hope to attract both European and North American passengers. The new flight connections will further strengthen relations between Austria and Canada.
